Wayne Chapman

Obituary Wayne Matthew Chapman affectionately known as "Buck", was called home for eternal rest on August 17, 2024 at the age of 68. His passing serves as an enormous loss to his family, friends, and extended community. Born to Alvin and Susie Chapman on September 11, 1955, in Forestville, Maryland. He was educated in the Prince George's County Public School System, receiving his diploma from Largo Senior High School in 1973. Following, Wayne served in the United States Air Force from November 1973 until June 1978 as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was authorized to wear the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, and Air Force Combat Crew badge. He later united in marriage to Vivian "Vicki" Harrison. With this union came, Tiffany, Courtney, Paige, and Dwayne Chapman. After his Honorable Service in the USAF, Wayne worked as a contractor and reservist for the Air Force, the City of Seat Pleasant Public Works Department, and the Coca Cola Company. He spent the last 16 years at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center DC as a supervisor in the Environmental Management Services Department and as Vice President of the Local 572 Laborers' Union. Wayne always went above and beyond for his family. He had many talents; a true renaissance man, willing to do anything to help others. He had special bonds with many, but Wayne cherished a deep and unwavering bond with his close friends; Johnnie and Colleen Wright, Phillip and Mable Porter, Billy and Lumarzell Blake, Leroy and Phyllis Pinkney, Dennis "Smitty" Smith, Jimmy Diggs, his sister, Andrea "Angie" Batson and forever angels Stanley Farmer, Ernesto "Ernest" and Gertrude "Eliane" Tuzon whose love and support shaped his life. Their connections were a source of strength, laughter, and endless memories. Wayne's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His kindness, humor, and unwavering spirit touched many lives, leaving a lasting impact. As we say goodbye, we'll find comfort in the memories we shared and the knowledge that Wayne's love and light will continue to guide us. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Predeceased by his lovely wife Vivian "Vickie" Chapman, daughter Shirada "Tweedy" Harrison, parents Alvin and Susie Chapman, brothers Kenneth "Tight Eye" and William "Baldy" Pinkney (Sandy). Wayne leaves to cherish his memory four children; Tiffany, Courtney, Paige and Dwayne, two brothers; Alvin Jr. (Portia), and Steve Chapman, two grandchildren; Robert Hall, Cyin Sankofa Chapman and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
