Mrs. Myrtle P. Beale

Myrtle Beale, daughter of the late Deacon Robert L Pratt and Rosa Clark Pratt, was born on July 19, 1945, and departed this life on September 30, 2024, in Rockville, MD. Myrtle graduated from Essex County High School in Tappahannock, VA. Upon graduation, she moved to New York, worked, and commuted back and forth to Chance, Virginia, as a devoted member of Zion Baptist Church. Myrtle reconnected with her friend, Milton Beale, whom she soon married. Their marriage on September 10, 1966, led them to Capitol Heights, Maryland. Although she never bore any children of her own, she significantly impacted the lives of many children through her work with Concord Elementary School in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Her creativity and talent for decorating bulletin boards were unmatched, inspiring those around her. Her most entertaining stories were of her time working with children, and she would host memorable picnics and parties for her family. Her spaghetti and fruit salad were her specialty; if you never had it, you missed out. She had a beautiful singing voice and a laugh that, once heard, would never be forgotten. Myrtle's love extended beyond her family to their beloved fur babies Nip, Tootsie, Mindy, and Mighty Mo. Myrtle also loved games shows. The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune were her favorites as well as "I Love Lucy" and for many years "The Young and the Restless" was her favorite soap opera, until it became, according to her "too stupid to waste electricity watching it!" Milton and Myrtle were dedicated Angel Visit Baptist Church members in Dunnsville, Virginia, where together, they provided the music for services and enjoyed a community of friendship and fellowship. Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 58 years, Milton Beale; her twin sister, Mable (Milton) of Woodbridge, Virginia; her sister-in-law, Elsie Pratt of Caret, Virginia; her brother-in-law Bill Upshaw of Port Royal, VA; devoted cousin Mary Broaddous (Frank) of Richmond, Virginia; A brother-n-law (James Artie Beale, Sr) Wife ( Maxine Beale), Sister-n- law Betty B Fortune, A Brother-n- Law Pastor Robert Tapscott and a Sister-n-Law, Kay Beale and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to include a special niece Shirley White and nephew Howard Henry and Minister Donald Smedley for their faithful and frequent visits in her final days. Myrtle was preceded in death by her six sisters, Edna and Mary, Pratt, Martha Taylor, Virginia Henry, Louise Atkinson, Rosie Upshaw, and her two brothers, Llewellyn and Robert Pratt.
