Dr. Milton Edward White Jr

Dr. Milton Edward White Jr., affectionately known as "Bubba," was born on May 27, 1942, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the second oldest of five children born to Mr. Milton Edward White and Mrs. Esther Lee Curry White. Dr. White peacefully entered eternal rest on January 7, 2026, leaving behind a powerful legacy of faith, service, leadership, and family devotion. Dr. White accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Greater Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. In 1968, he and his beloved wife united with Allen Chapel AME Church, where they remained faithful members for decades. A dedicated servant-leader, he was the founder and president of the Men's Usher Board, widely known and admired for their special march. His favorite scripture, Psalm 91, reflected the trust and confidence he placed in God throughout his life. A proud Jacksonville native, Dr. White attended New Stanton High School before enrolling at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated on April 15, 1965, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. While at FAMU, he was a distinguished member of the nationally renowned Marching "100" Band, serving as Head Drum Major from 1963 to 1965, leading over 250 male band members with excellence, discipline, and pride. Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. White continued his education at the University of the District of Columbia, earning a Master of Arts degree in Administration and Supervision, graduating cum laude, in May 1992. He later earned an Educational Specialist degree in Developmental Education with a concentration in diversity and multiculturalism. In April 1996, he completed his academic journey by earning a Doctorate of Education in Developmental Education from Grambling State University. Professionally, Dr. White built a remarkable career marked by leadership and trailblazing accomplishments. He served as a Program Analyst and Training Specialist with the Department of Disability Services in Washington, DC; Chief Operating Officer of Ronson Communication (RCI) in Northern Virginia; Director of Engineering for C&P of Washington, Bell Atlantic, and Verizon; and as an Adjunct Professor at Strayer University and Sojourner Douglas College. He also made history as the first Black manager at The General Tire and Rubber Company in Washington, DC. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. White found joy and purpose in service to others. He was a skilled and licensed master barber for over 40 years and the owner of We Come to You Barbering Services. Saturdays at the barbershop were sacred to him. He was known for his steady hands, listening ear, and genuine care for every person who sat in his chair. The barbershop became known as an open and nurturing space for men whenever Dr. White was present-a place where conversation, encouragement, mentorship, and genuine care flowed freely. It was there that many felt seen, heard, and uplifted, reflecting his deep love for people. Above all, Dr. White cherished his family. He married his college sweetheart and queen, Doretha Youngblood, on August 24, 1963. Their union of 62 years was a beautiful testament to love, commitment, and partnership. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving grandfather and great-grandfather, and proudly known as "the BEST Popie on Earth." Dr. White will be remembered as a man who did the best he could with whatever he had, who always wanted to help somebody, who took care of his family and his queen, a father figure to many, an example to all, and a man who kept life simple yet meaningful. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Doretha White; three sons, Milton White III, Michael White, and Marlon White; siblings, Miriam Williams (VT) and Gary White (Mary); grandchildren, Lamar West (Sheida), Ashley White, Ebony White, Milton Long, Milton "Tre" White, Myeileah White, Alexis Walls, Marquia White, Marquise White, Michaela White, Marlon White Jr., Renard Jordon, and Danae Lampkins; and great-grandchildren, Sahir, Lamar Jr., Sanaa, Lillianna, Seth, Zayla, Millon, Mizori, Jarred, Keegan, Angel, Mon'Nai, De'Mydric, Jabril, Jaquel, Jilia Trevan, and Amyra. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Edward White and Esther Lee Curry White; and siblings, Geraldine Martin and Michael White. Dr. Milton Edward White Jr.'s life was well-lived, deeply impactful, and richly blessed. His legacy will continue through the many lives he touched, taught, and loved.
