Mrs. Loretta Ann Evans-Frazier

Loretta Ann Bell Evans-Frazier was born November 11, 1946 to the late Melvin and Aretha Bell in Kinston, NC and was the oldest of twelve children. She entered into eternal rest on December 2, 2020 after lingering illnesses. Loretta was educated in the Lenoir County School system and furthered her education at Lenoir Community College in Kinston, NC. Being the oldest child in the family, oftentimes she was called upon to help with the younger children. She became an excellent cook and was especially known for her potato salad. Her sense of humor entertained family and friends. She used her gift of spiritual discernment to counsel with family, friends and anyone she could help. She was a strong and positive influence on her sisters, brothers and everyone she met. As a teenager, Loretta used her God given talent of playing the piano. It was discovered at an early age that Loretta could play the piano and she took piano lessons to further her training. Oftentimes, she got in trouble with her teacher for putting a “flair” on the piano pieces she played. She served many local churches in the Kinston area as musician prior to moving to the greater Maryland-Washington area. After moving to the area, she met and was united in marriage to Edward (Sonny) Evans who preceded her in death. One son was born of this union, Maurice Evans. Later, Loretta was united in marriage to Elliott (EJ) Frazier. Loretta was employed at the General Accounting Office (GAO) until she retired. While working at GAO, Loretta met Missionary Emma Collins who invited her to First National Deliverance Center and introduced her to the church’s founder Bishop Ella R. Hagans. Loretta came into First National soon after the church was formed and served as a musician until her health would no longer permit her to serve. She played for many choirs and groups within First National. While playing for First National, she also served as a musician for Faith Temple for 19 years playing for their 7 am service. She was a dedicated and enthusiastic worker in the church serving as missionary, evangelist, musician, counselor, prayer warrior, and any role she could to help spread the Word of God. Each year, she eagerly looked forward to the annual 2-week revival. She had a passion for serving the Lord. Oftentimes she would say “I will not take down and I will not compromise.” Her determination proved faithful to the end. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Aretha Bell, one sister Marilyn Bell Dixon and one brother Cleo Bell. Loretta leaves to cherish her memories her husband Elliott (EJ) Frazier, one son Maurice Evans, three step daughters: Dianne Frazier, Loretta Frazier and Erica Hamilton; four sisters: Dr. Vinetta Bell, Margaretha Williams, Essie Jackson (Michael) and Charity Bell; five brothers: Melvin Bell Jr. (Lucy), Alexander Bell (Mary), Julian Bell, Meredith Bell and Ervin Bell (Deborah); two brother in laws: Hazel (JB) Frazier and Bobby Frazier; six sisters in law: Virginia Frazier, Bernice McLewean, Annie Lou Curry, Catherine White, Vickie Evans and Carolyn Evans Bush; one aunt Vergia Miller, her god-mother Pastor Mattie Johnson, two god-daughters: Nykkey Rowlett Thomas and Sharon Kelley and several spiritual children, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She also leaves to cherish her memories the First National Church family, Faith Temple Church family and numerous other churches and fellowships.
