Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for John "Bo" Hampton, Sr. of Washington, DC who passed away Thursday, October 25, 2017. The viewing will be held prior to the services on Friday from 10:00 a.m. through 11:00 a.m. John “Bo” Hampton Sr. peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, October 25, 2017. Bo was born on July 6, 1936 in Washington, DC to the late Talley and Mattie Bell Hampton. He is preceded in death by his 4 sisters, Mattie Bell Hampton, Cory Daisy Taylor, Mamie Lee Hampton, and Mary Louise Abney; one sister-in-law Mary Davis, and 3 brother-in-law’s John Middleton, Gregory Wideman, and Joe Wideman. Bo grew up on Fenton Street, NE and attended District of Columbia Public School System. He later started his career in roofing and received his first job at 16 years old at Clark Construction. In 1976, Bo completed the Steward Training Course at the Federal City College. After serving 28 years at Warren & Link Roofing Company, Bo decided to take the independent route and started his own private company. He loved going to the gun range, watching old cowboy flicks, and hand dancing but the real love of his life was Beverly Hampton. Bo and Beverly were married on August 1, 1964. From that day forth they became one in spirit, in life, and in business. The couple settled in Southeast, DC where they raised their four (4) children and were pillars in their community. He was a devoted father to his children and a devoted grandfather to his grandkids. He often gave advice, a helping hand, and fatherly support to many nieces and nephews. Sharing an unique and close bond with his grandson David Patterson, Jr. and granddaughter Destiny Gaston. There are no words or phrases that can specifically describe the impact that he had on this earth. He will be greatly missed and cherished for years to come. John “Bo” Hampton, Sr. leaves fond memories to his wife of 53 years Beverly Hampton; four (4) children John Hampton, Jr., Tabitha Hampton, James Hampton and Tamika Hampton (Baby Girl); seven (7) grandchildren Chamia Saunders (John Jr.), Terrence Jones (John Jr.), John Hampton III (John Jr.), Kevin Hampton (John Jr.), James Hampton Jr. (James), David Patterson, Jr. (Tamika), Destiny Gaston (Tamika) a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
