Mr. Franklin Delano Savage

Franklin Delano Savage was born April 22, 1937 in Accomac, VA . He was the youngest of 8 children (6 boys, 2 girls) born to Jack and Addie (Finney) Savage. He passed away on February 26, 2024 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with lung disease. Frank accepted Jesus Christ at a very young age. He attended the Accomack County Public Schools and was a honor roll student. He left high school for 2 years to take care of his mother. He graduated from Mary Nottingham Smith High School in 1957.. Frank married his one and only true love Hilda “Pauline” Bagwell in 1958. From this union, they had 5 children. Pauline died unexpectedly at the very young of age of 32, leaving behind children ranging from 3 to 12. At the age of 33, Frank became a single father. He worked several jobs simultaneously to feed and care for this family. The Accomac - Church Road Community exemplified the term “it takes a village”. Frank worked as a bus driver for the Accomack County Public Schools for 59 years. He truly was an Icon in the community. He loved the tens of thousands student riders and they loved and admired him. Parents entrusted him as part of their extended family because they knew how much he cared for and kept their children safe. Reviewing of report cards gave him an opportunity to praise jobs well done and encourage students that he knew had great potential. Frank enjoyed time with his family and was proud of each and every one of them. He attended their activities every opportunity he was able. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He preferred to watch women’s basketball because he thought they may not be as athletic but had better fundamental skills. He enjoyed hunting with his friends. Other pastimes he enjoyed was reading and playing spades and pinocle. Preceding him in death were wife Hilda Pauline Savage; Parents Jack ad Addie Savage; Brothers William, Leroy, Sammuel, Edward, Wilbert; and sister Helen. He leaves behind children Beverly Bagwell of Accomac, VA; Franklin (Natasha) of Accomac, VA; Keith (Patricia) Savage of Fairfax, VA; Cynthia Savage Reid of Accomac, VA; Michelle (Derwin) Savage Reid of Harborton, VA Grandchildren Kesheal Bagwell Queenan of Savannah, GA; Lawrence (Terris) Bagwell of Magnolia, DE; Kim Bagwell of Accomac, VA; Kiasha (Quinton) Johnson of Belle Haven, VA; Kentral Savage of Accomac, VA; Cornell (Kavesha) Reid, Jr. of Melfa, VA; Kadeen Duffy of Virginia Beach; Kiara (Jordan) Ball of Housto, TX; Kethan Savage of Falls Church, VA; Kwantrell Reid of Accomac, VA; 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and host of other relatives; Special friend Barbara Strand.
