Ms. Dorann Morgan

On Sunday, December 5, 2021, our beloved Dorann Morgan, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, and dear friend was called to her eternal resting place with loved ones by her side. Dorann was born in Washington, DC on April 1, 1954 to the late Esther G. Morgan and the late James Morgan. Dorann attended DC public schools, graduating from Dunbar Senior High School in 1972. After graduating high school, Dorann took classes at the University of the District of Columbia before joining the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Following USPS, Dorann worked for the U.S. Department of Labor and in various roles until she joined D.C. Child and Family Services, where she earned achievement awards for her dedication and service. Throughout her career, Dorann received many vocational certificates to improve her knowledge and skills in the workforce. Later in life, she proudly completed a course in Microsoft Office, a challenge she took on to remain competitive. Dorann was full of life. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and listening to music, even keeping up with today's trends (she was familiar with songs and rappers that her daughter did not know). Her favorite song was Wildflower by New Birth and Happy Feelings by Maze. Dorann was a true gem with a spirit of love and kindness. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and found joy in the small things in life. Each year, she purchased birthday and holiday cards, purchased postal stamps, and mailed each card to loved ones with a special message and fancy signature. That brought her much joy and she looked forward to this each year. Dorann was predeceased by her parents, Esther G. Morgan and James Morgan; her brothers, Milton Jackson and Dennis Morgan; nephew Tauchious Owens; ex-husbands David Marbury and Robert Ballard; and the love of her life, Allen Gayden, the father of her only child. To cherish her memories, Dorann leaves behind her daughter, LaKiesha Gayden, granddaughter, Tiffani Gayden, and great-granddaughter, Reazyn Koonce. She also leaves her siblings, Arlean Owens (Tauchious), Francine Morgan, and James Morgan. Also in her memories are nieces Pamela, Milton Jr. (Andrea), Tonya (Leon), Tajuana, Torrance, Kikicia (Derrick), Manika (Donte), and Melva; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; loving cousins; dear friends; two god-children, Paula Green and Alicia Singletary; and her cousin/sister Sharon Brandon whom she shared many great memories since childhood.
