Constance Marie Roberts

Constance Marie Roberts was born on October 4, 1949, at the Columbia Hospital for Women in Washington, DC. She was the third of four children born to William M. Roberts, Sr. and Naomi Gant Roberts. After a brief illness, Connie entered into eternal rest on August 18, 2024. "Connie", as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was raised in the Langston Dwellings, which are located in Northeast, Washington, DC. Connie was educated in the District of Columbia Public School System. She attended Charles Young Elementary, Brown Junior High, and Burdick Vocational High School. Connie loved to sing and dance. As a youth, she often participated and performed in various talent shows and other activities put on by the Langston Recreational Center. She also had a passion for cooking and baking. She acquired her cooking and baking skills from her parents and vocational training. After finishing high school, Connie worked in several restaurants as a cook and baker. In 1975, while working in a downtown restaurant, Connie and a fellow cook decided to join the army under the buddy program to sharpen their culinary skills. After a year, Connie decided the military was not her path to success. She was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1976. After returning home from the military, Connie worked in several positions in the DC Public School System and ultimately retired as a School Crossing Guard. After retiring, Connie spent most of her time at home where she unselfishly took on the demanding task of caring for her aging parents and other family members in the household. She loved the daily challenge of making sure that her family members where prepared for their daily activities. Among her many talents, Connie, was an excellent barber. It was nothing for her to provide a shave or haircut for a family member in need. Connie was a kind and caring individual who would do anything to help others if she could. She had a great sense of humor and would always say something funny to make you smile. She was fun loving and enjoyed herself most when she was around family and friends. Connie's bright smile and bubbly personality will surely be missed. Connie was preceded in death by her father, William M. Roberts, Sr., her mother, Naomi Gant Roberts, and younger sister, Lolita Roberts. She leaves to cherish her memory, Nelson Cordova, her longtime companion; Ingrid Vinson, her oldest sister, (James C. Alexander); William Roberts, Jr., her brother; and many loving relatives and friends.
