Ms. Bobbie J. (Gean) Silvers

Bobbie Gean Silvers, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Friday May 5, 2023, at her residence in Washington, DC. Bobbie Gean Silvers was born on August 11, 1938, in Winnsboro, South Carolina to the parents of Isaiah Squirewell and Amanda Bagley Squirewell. She was educated in the Fairfield County School system. At a very young age, Bobbie took on the responsibility of assisting her parents with the household. In 1965, she moved to Washington, DC for better employment opportunities. Under the leadership of the late Reverend Ernst Cunningham of Unity Baptist, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. f o r e v e r I n o u r h e a r t s Throughout the years, Bobbie worked in various dental offices within the DMV and served as a private caregiver to several patients needing assistance with their daily activities. The job that she loved the most was babysitting her grandchildren so that her children could pursue their educational and professional careers. Known to some family members as Aunt BJ or OG Bobbie Gean, she was the life of the party. Whenever she visited her family in South Carolina, she was ready to show her nieces the latest dance moves. Bobbie was a great spirit that enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, cooking and early morning conversations with her siblings and niece Trisha. She was a loving mother and one of the strongest women to walk the face of this earth. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in which she lived. Her presence in this world impacted the lives of many people and she will be forever missed. Bobbie is survived by her five children, Stanley Squirewell (Mary), Lorrie Ann Silvers, Frederick Silvers (Faith); Berkley Silvers (Liz) and Tijuana Leftwich (Michael). Bobbie is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Morrison, Wanda Williamson, Sharon Squirewell, Yvonne Mackey and brother, Leon Squirewell, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and goddaughter, Angela Montague Jefferson. Bobbie Gean is preceded in death by her parents Isaiah Squirewell and Amanda Bagley Squirewell, sister Mary Ashe; brother Isaiah Roosevelt Squirewell; daughters Linda Burns, Gwendolyn Squirewell and granddaughter Stephanie Squirewell Hooks.
