Anthony P Brito

On July 21, 2019, Anthony (Tony) Pedro Brito, son of the late Benjamin P. and Judith C. Brito and husband of Leslie R. Brito, entered eternal rest after years of suffering from a myriad of illnesses. Tony was born June 10,1946 in Acushnet, MA. He graduated from New Bedford High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice at Penn State. Upon graduation from college, Tony enlisted in the Army where he served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. After serving in the Army, Tony lived in Europe for a year then moved to Connecticut where his civilian career began. A sports enthusiast, Tony participated in football and basketball in high school and college and for Our Lady of Assumption, a church team, where, because of his night vision and ability make impossible shots, was given the nickname Jack the Bat. He organized and coached a little league football team and was a referee for a minor flag football league. Tony was a devoted fan of the Steelers, Giants and Celtics and enjoyed watching boxing matches and track and field events. Tony was a foodie. He was an excellent cook and would gladly share how he would prepare a dish even if you didn’t ask. He also loved his music. He was an avid jazz enthusiast and enjoyed going to concerts and shows at the Birchmere or Bethesda Blues and Jazz club. Tony was a member of Fort Washington Baptist Church where he was a member of the Praise Choir and one of the original members of the Mighty Men of God. He will be remembered for his gift to gab. Tony was predeceased by his brother, Benjamin P. Brito, Jr. Leaving to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Leslie R. Brito, son, Kareem J. Brito, two grandchildren, Shareem McBride and Deztiny Brito, Mother-in-Law, Barbara J. Rivers, Sister-in-Law, Robin R. Warren, Brother-in-Law, Steven H. Rivers, nieces, Michelle R. Warren, Courtney L. Warren, Trina Kenney and Kim Taylor, great-nephew, Gabriel I. Warren-Wallace and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Memorial Service will be held at Ft. Washington Baptist Church 11516 Fort Washington Rd, Ft. Washington, MD 20744 on Saturday, August 3, 2019 10 am vistitaion and 11 am service. Interment: Private
