Lorenzo M. Smith, Jr. Also known as Butch to some and Clutch to others Lorenzo M. Smith, Jr. was born November 22, 1947 and slipped away quietly on October 20, 2021 at Georgetown Hospital. Lorenzo was the first born child of the late Lorenzo M. Smith, Sr. and Connie M. Smith. Lorenzo went to DC Public schools and graduated from Chamberlain Vocational School. After graduating Lorenzo was drafted in the United States Army where he served and fought in the Vietnam War. After having an honorable discharge and returning to Washington, D.C. he worked for the Department of Treasury and eventually worked for the Parked services where he was detailed to work at the White House and eventually retired after 30 some years. Lorenzo was also known for the love of his music and playing the drums. He played for the Royal Tones, The Unifics and the Original Peaches and Herb band. He leaves to mourn his passing a wife and friend of 30 years, Francine Smith; One Daughter Michelle Maiden (husband Joe), One Son Lorenzo M. Smith, III (Melonie). Late brother Kenny Smith and his youngest brother Kevin E. Smith, Sr. He also leaves behind 5 granddaughter's Candace, Jaiden, Marcia, Lamoria and Lamore, 2 grandsons Lorenzo and Cornelius. 1 great granddaughter and 1 great grandson (deceased). Neice's and nephews Katrina, Kenny, Timmy, Kevin, Trinikqua, and Lynnett and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held Wednesday November 10,2021 at Pope Funeral Homes 2617 Pennsylvania Avenue SE Washington, DC 20020 Viewing 10:00 am Service 11:00 am Interment Quantico National Cemetery
