Mrs. Christine Anne Hightower

Christine Anne Hightower, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 4, 1951 to the late Alonzo and Marion Jackson. She was affectionately called "Fuzzy" and "Auntie Chris" by those who knew her and loved her. She received her education in the public schools of the District of Columbia. Christine started working when she was eighteen years old. Her first job was a teller at the American Security Bank. She later worked at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a Customer Service Representative as a Customer Service Representative for over thirty-two years until she retired in April 2022. Christine met John Hightower Jr. in 1967. They fell in love and were married on April 24, 1974 and were blessed with two children, John, III and Brandie. Christine enjoyed life's simple pleasures such as bowling, hunting, fishing, crafting, playing Pokeno with family, and most of all photography. She was a member of Black & Gold and Postal Mix bowling leagues for twenty-five years traveling across the U.S. to participate in competitions. She was awarded several trophies. She loved going fishing with her husband, brothers, and son on charter boats on the Atlantic Ocean. She also enjoyed fishing by herself on the water's edge of the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River. Christine loved crafting. She worked on crafting projects several times a week in her home's dedicated craft room. She often worked on crafting projects daily with her friends Regina and Rose. She conquered challenging projects with ease. She created acrylic plates, candle holders, jewelry, personalized t-shirts, mugs, key chains, and so much more. During the COVID-19 pandemic she made and personalized immunization card holders for her family and friends. Most of all, Christine loved photography. She always kept her camera with her so she could capture photos of the sunrise and sunset on her way to and from work. One of her photographs of the sunrise was featured on the channel 9 weather report. She would also visit the Botanical Gardens every spring to take photos of flowers, birds and animals. She was awarded a special photographer's invitation to take photos at Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day. Christine was the family's official photographer, capturing memories of all family events including birthdays, weddings, cookouts, baby showers and family portraits. She also went on amazing photo excursions with her good friends Fikre and Rose. Out of all the things that Fuzzy loved, she LOVED to eat seafood most of all! Christine is preceded in death by her mother, Marion; father, Alonzo; sister, Charlene Ware and brothers, Charles Ridout, II and John Ridout. Christine is survived by her husband John Jr.; two children John, III (Rashida) and Brandie; four siblings Barbara Ann Mays (Horace), Sandra Nabinett, Rodney Ridout and Robin Toliver (Mark) and sister-in-law Joan Johnson-Ridout; seven grandchildren John IV, Brandon, Bra'Nae, Janiyah, Jaylen, Shania and Audrey; two great grandchildren John V; and her "Stinka Poo" Kai; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
