Ms. Stacey Thomas

Stacey Collette Lewis Thomas, was born on December 4, 1970, in Washington, D.C. She was one of seven children born to Russell and Rose Marie Lewis. As a twin, she entered the world already part of a special bond-one that reflected the deep value she placed on family throughout her life. Before graduating from Gwynn Park High School in 1989, Stacey became a devoted young mother to her son, Terrence. After high school, she pursued her passion for beauty and fashion by attending cosmetology school and joining Barbizon Modeling Agency. She later began a meaningful career at the Metro Laundry, where her dedication, warm spirit, and strong work ethic were deeply valued and remembered by all who worked with her. In 1999, Stacey accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized. She became a devoted member of Woodstream Church, attending regularly until relocating to North Carolina, where she continued to worship through livestream until her passing. On August 26, 2006, Stacey married the love of her life, Zavest Thomas. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Collette Rose. Stacey and Zavest shared a joyful bond, enjoying sports, good food, and time with family. Together, they created countless cherished memories full of love and laughter. Stacey was known for her radiant smile, gentle spirit, and graceful presence. Even in difficult times, she never complained and remained a source of strength and encouragement to others. Her vibrant personality and unique style reflected the joy and light she carried in her heart. Family gatherings were her favorite! She was the heartbeat of every family gathering-always the first to the dance floor and the last to leave it. Her energy and presence brought light to every room. Her most memorable saying, "Keep your feet on the rock," was a message of encouragement that she shared with everyone she met. In her leisure time, Stacey enjoyed writing poetry, cheering on her favorite teams-the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Lakers-and sharing messages of hope and inspiration. She deeply loved her family and was a constant source of strength, warmth, and encouragement to all who knew her. Stacey entered eternal rest on May 5, 2025, at her home, surrounded by love. Her life was a beautiful reflection of faith, kindness, and unwavering strength. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell J. Lewis; her sister, Darlene; and her twin sister, Tracey Collene Taylor. She is survived by her mother, Rose Marie Lewis; her devoted husband, Zavest Thomas; and her two beloved children, Terrence Lewis and Collette Rose. Her siblings: Michael Lewis, Sr (Lajuanna), Russell D. Lewis, Sr. (Darlene), Angela Lewis-Williams (Robert), and David R. Lewis, Sr (Kimberly); Dorian Taylor; Her-in-laws: James and Ethal Thomas, Waverly, James (Kendra), and Nicole; nieces: Monique Swinson (Arthur, Jr.), Courtney Lewis, Oliva, Anatasia, DeErica, JaAisa and Joelia; nephews: Michael Lewis, Jr., Russell D. Lewis, Jr., David Rodney Lewis, II, Calvin Lewis, Waverly Jr., Travis, and TK; great-nieces: Taylor, Kodii, Amaya, Amina, and Amani: great-nephews: Amir, Michael III, Arthur III, and Alexander; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
