Mr. Robert Earl Wilson, Sr.

Mr. Robert Earl Wilson Sr., 74, fell asleep in death at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria VA, on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Born on July 11, 1947 to the late Andrew (Bud) and Clara Wilson, Robert grew up in Wilkinson County, Georgia with his parents and 9 siblings. After graduating from Millville High School, he joined the Army and served as an Aircraft Hydraulics Repairman and received several medals. He later went on to marry the love of his life, Gracie Lee Wilson in 1972. They enjoyed 49 wonderful years with their six children. Robert was a joyful, giving man with a great sense of humor and a big heart. He never met a person he could not strike up a conversation with, especially if it was about his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He was a Jack of all trades. In the course of his life he worked as a Brick Mason, Construction Foreman, Welder and Mechanic. His passion was Truck Driving. In 1986 he started his own trucking company, and contracted for his childhood friend, the late Mr. Claxton Mitchell (Mr. C). He enjoyed running his own business and talking on the CB under his handle, "Boy Blue". The thing Robert cherished most was family. He loved calling "down south" to speak to his brother, sisters, and other family. He looked forward to getting together with family to laugh and joke around. He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren, telling funny stories about his childhood, making up songs, and playing games. He looked for ways to help family. Whether with a kind word, providing a place to stay, giving money, or providing some other form of practical help. You could always rely on Robert. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew (Bud) and Clara Wilson; his sisters Lois White and Anita Ahsley; and his Stepson, Eugene Hailstock Jr. He is survived and cherished by his loving wife and friend, Gracie Lee Wilson; children, La'Shondrey Robinson, Robert Earl Wilson Jr., Tonya Renee Wilson-Luttrell (Ramon), Roland Wilson (Andrene), and Rolanda Wilson; brother, Douglas Wilson; sisters, Ellie Golden, Vivian D. Denson, Claretha Bell (James), Christine Jones (Carlton), Geraldine "Gerri" Carter, and Gwendolyn Stanley; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
