Robert Lee Fletcher

Robert (Sunny) Lee Fletcher departed this earthly life peacefully at his residence on Monday, January 2, 2023, at the age of 66. Robert was born to the union of the late Eartha Lee Green-Fletcher and James Lee Fletcher, on February 7, 1956, in Washington DC. Robert accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. Robert received his formal education in the District of Columbia Public School System where he graduated from in 1972. After graduation, he started working at D.C. General Hospital as a lab technician. He later accepted a position with Georgetown Hospital as a lab technician and held this position until he resigned due to his health. Despite his disability, his spirit was full of life, gratefulness and appreciation to be able to spend time with his family and friends. He never lost his will to live or his sense of humor. Robert was a very family-oriented person that enjoyed social gatherings and spending the holidays with his loved ones. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. His greatest joy in life was being a devoted father and grandfather. He taught his children integrity, accountability, and to stand tall and be proud of themselves in all situations. Robert supported his children throughout their accomplishments and life challenges. He was always there to reassure them and provide positive affirmations. He looked forward to spending quality time with his children and grandchildren and always cherished his time with them. Robert loved to dress nice and wear cologne. A couple of his most favorite colognes were Calvin Klein and Yves Saint Laurent. Robert always needed a nice watch to match his outfits too. He enjoyed watching a variety of sporting events. Football was his all-time favorite. He absolutely loved the Redskins; he considered himself their #1 fan. He was also an avid chess player. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Eartha Lee Green-Fletcher and James Lee Fletcher; his son, Ronald Fletcher; four sisters, Patricia Ann Fletcher, Marion Louise Fletcher, Parma Letitia Fletcher, and Carlita Fletcher. Robert is survived by: three sons, Robert Fletcher, Rolland Fletcher, and Dionta Gillespie; one daughter, Tanja Lightning; four daughters-in-law, Ramatu Gillespie, Alisha Fisher, Tria Mercer, and Mona Seabrook; eleven grandchildren, Terrance Fisher, Darrel Sales, Robert Fletcher Jr., Zion Gillespie, Kiera Fletcher, Ronique Moody-Taylor, Rondell Fletcher, Ronald Taylor, Ja'Quan Johnson, Paris Nicole Mercer, and Ashley Jones; three great grandchildren, Jhaza Fletcher, Gabriel Moody-Taylor and Legend Fletcher; a devoted stepmother, Lois J Fletcher, who loved and cared for him until the end; his baby sister, Tywania Fletcher-Langley; two brothers, Tyrone Fletcher and Derrick Fletcher; a nephew, Ronald Henderson, an aunt, Mattie Blasingame; an uncle, John Green; special cousins, Reginald, Jackie, Angie, Felica, Litya, Diane, Annett, Valerie, Donald, and Ronald; Godsons, Myron and Keith; childhood friends, Dutch, Richard, and Larry; and a host or other relatives and friends
