Raymond Fontaine Fennell

Raymond Fontaine Fennell, Sr. went to be with his Father in his heavenly home on Thursday, May 14, 2020. Raymond was born November 30, 1935. He was the fifth of 12 children born to the late James Fennell, Sr. and Lucretia Kenard Fennell. Raymond (Ray) was born and raised in Northeast Washington, D.C. and received his education in the District of Columbia Public School system. After graduation he became employed by the DC Public School System as a Building Engineer. Soon after he met and married the love of his life Annie L. Earle. They were married for 48 years until her passing. Raymond had 4 children, whom he loved. Raymond was a dedicated and hard worker until he retired from both the DC Public Schools System where he worked for over 31 years and from Baxters, where he worked part-time for over 15 years. In between working those jobs, Raymond held several other part-time positions. Raymond was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. He loved his family passionately. As a retiree Raymond spent his days caring for his wife, working and maintaining the landscaping around his home, having long conversations with his grandchildren and hosting family and friends get-togethers. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents James and Lucretia, his wife Annie Laura, his siblings Norman, Harold, Larry, Roscoe, Donald, Virginia, Regina, Bertha, Audrey and Tyrone. Raymond leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Raymond Jr. (Anita), Jeffrey Sr. (Diana) and Roderick, Sr. (Tina); one daughter Renee; a brother James Jr. (Geraldine); sisters-in-law Rosemary Fennell and Geneva Earle; brother-in-law Howard Williams; grandchildren Stephanie; Jeffrey Jr., Jamal, Joshua, DeJanee, Alexis, Tyree, Ashley and Roderick Jr., extended granddaughters Ronell, Megan and KateLynn (Marjorie mother) Alexis Norris, Aliyha Norris, Tyrae Fennell, Alexander Norris, Alonzo Norris, Alisha Norris, Ashley Norris; great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; devoted nieces and nephews great nieces and great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held on Saturday May 23, 2020 at Pope Funeral Homes 5538 Marlboro Pike Forestville MD 20743 Viewing 1:00 pm Service 2:00 pm Interment Maryland National in Laurel , MD
