Mrs. Margaret Jenkins Branch

Margaret J. Branch was born on January 22, 1922, to the parents of Mable A. Oden (1969) and Louis H. Jenkins (1975). Margaret ascended into heaven on June 22, 2020, due to natural causes that came with her age of ninety-eight years. Margaret was married to William E. Branch who preceded her in death (2006) for 36 years. Margaret was the eldest of two siblings a sister Hazel Taylor (Wendell) and a brother Joseph Gant (Eleanor) who preceded her in death and 12-step brothers and sisters, Frances Hall, Edward Jenkins, Delores Kelly (Ernest), Lillian Wiseman (Gary), Hilda Tolson, Patricia Jenkins, Doris Mitchell, Marion King, Carolyn Harris (Charles), Lawrence Jenkins, Christobell Jenkins (deceased), Gilbert Jenkins (deceased). Margaret was educated in the D.C. Public Schools at Garfield Elementary and Armstrong High School in Washington DC. Margaret was employed by the Department of Defense at the Pentagon for a brief period during World War II and later pursued a career with the United States Postal Service as a Supervisor of the Photo Lab where she served for 36 years and retired. Margaret loved and was a devoted member of Allen AME Chapel; in fact she was the oldest and longest tenured member of Allen. She was a devoted member of the Stewardess Board Number #1, the Allen Echoes, and she was dedicated to the Pantry Board until her health became compromised and more so age no longer allowed her to participate. She received numerous awards and acknowledgment for her participation in other activities and events from her church, the community in which she lived and from her various employments. Her Belief, Dedication and Commitment to the Lord were with her to the very end. Although she had no children of her own, she was known as a mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt and great, great aunt who gave unselfishly of herself to them. She loved all of her children and they loved her too. Margaret was known for her sharp and witty sense of humor and could and would keep you laughing. She was a wonderful homemaker and a awesome cook. She truly loved her husband, her family and friends and they loved her too. She “always” had an open door to her home where loved always abided. When the Lord called her home he called on a good one! God gave her longevity and an opportunity to serve the Lord with gladness.Margaret leaves behind two nephews, Wenzell and Daryl, two great nieces Afshana and Jade, one great Nephew Daryl Jr, two great great nieces, Madison Taylor and Taylor Arey and four great great nephews, Jahcire Wells and Siayre Nicholas, Josiah Coleman and Atlas Taylor a God Daughter Tawana Palmer along with a host of loved ones and friends. Margaret favorite saying was: “What a Mighty God I Serve His Name is Jesus”
