Mr. Leonard William Lamont

Leonard William Lamont was born in Washington, D.C. on March 11, 1935 the sixth child of nine to the late Leroy and Lillian Lamont. Leonard, affectionately known as “Baldy”, grew up in the Ivy City area of Northeast DC alongside his brothers, sisters and many cousins. He was educated in the District of Columbia Public School System. As a young boy, Leonard loved music and was a good dancer, and he danced better than his brothers. He liked working on cars, a passion that later turned into his career, and he loved playing baseball with his brothers and cousins on the Ivy City Baseball Team. As a young man he enjoyed dancing at cabarets, Sunday trips to Sandy Point Beach with family and friends and playing cards. During that time, he married Arnida Ball and from that union came one child, Monica Michelle. Leonard worked for Forman Brothers Liquors before starting his career with the City of College Park as a Mechanic where he served 36 years retiring in March 2000. While working as a mechanic Leonard began dating Theresa Williams and they wed on June 20, 1987. From this union came one child, LaToya; however, Leonard was an amazing stepfather to Theresa, Ricky, and Stanley. Leonard LOVED his family. He was a devoted and beloved husband, father, and grandfather. His smile and kind heart left an everlasting impression on all who knew him. Leonard truly lived life fully, enjoying the simple things of life. He loved family gatherings, the family fish fry and the annual crab feast at DeMatha Catholic High School which seemed to be a small family reunion. He loved cooking on the grill, and his favorite meal was steak and potatoes. He enjoyed eating crabs and hanging out with his friends in College Park. Leonard would never miss a Washington Redskins game, he also enjoyed his Westerns, and of course “wrastling”. On Thursday morning, December 24, 2020, God sent angels down to bring Leonard home. He is preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Lillian Lamont; his brothers Leroy, Lloyd, Lawrence, Lamont; and his sisters Lola Lamont and Lawan Tolson. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 33 years, Theresa Lamont; two daughters Monica Lamont-Bethea (Anthony) and Latoya Lamont; three stepchildren Theresa Williams, Ricky Williams and Stanley Stevens; two brothers Lowell (Donna) and Leon Lamont; and one sister Lois Ball; twelve grandchildren Paul Harris, Jr., Alexandra Harris, Alanah Harris, Desiree Lamont, Isaiah Trice, Shannice Williams, Rajane Wormley, Tiara Wormley, Christopher Martin, Sade Wormley, Kenneth Williams, and Rykiea Williams; brothers-in-law Frank (Janice) and Charles Williams (Pearlese); sisters-in-law Jaqueline Porter (Joseph), Virginia Bates, Peggy Williams, Susie Williams (deceased), and Agnes Ross (deceased); and a host of nieces, nephews other family and friends. Leonard “Baldy” Lamont was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
