Remembering June Wanda Jackson June Wanda Jackson peacefully departed this life on December 17, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on January 26, 1941, to John Theodore Cosey and Gladys Elizabeth Curtis, June grew up in Washington, D.C., where she attended Love Joy Elementary School, Eliott Junior High School, and McKinley High School. On April 27, 1957, June married the love of her life, Claude Jackson. Together they built a family filled with love and resilience, raising six children: LaJuan Washington (Lindsey), Claude III, Dwayne, Louis, Darrell (Nashell), and Patrice. She was also preceded in death by her son Claude II. June began her working years at Old Colony Laundry before embarking on a long career with the Department of Justice as an Immigration Clerk. She retired with honor on September 30, 2004. A strong-minded and independent woman, June inspired her family and friends with her determination, especially in overcoming the challenges of her stroke. She found joy in cooking-her meatloaf and mashed potatoes were family favorites-and in cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. She loved playing Bingo nearly every day, visiting casinos, and more recently enjoying Pokeno at her daughter's home. June also delighted in classic television, especially Perry Mason, Murder She Wrote, and Walker, Texas Ranger. Above all, June cherished her family. She shared a special bond with each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love and devotion extended to her brother Louis Curtis II (Juanita), sister-in-law Barbara Jackson, nieces Lolita Hammond, Bernita Curtis, and Elnita Curtis-Maldonado, nephews Gregory Jackson, Louis Curtis II, and Melvin Jackson, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Claude Jackson, her parents John (Bennie) Cosey and Gladys Curtis, her daughter Patrice Jackson, her son Claude Jackson I, grandson Claude Jackson IV, and her dear cousin Ruby Ratchford. June's legacy is one of love, strength, and joy. Her memory will forever be cherished by her devoted children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends whose lives she touched with her warmth and generosity.
