Jean D. Hudson

Jean D. Hudson Was born on May 4, 1924 in Washington, DC to Joseph and Beatrice Neal. She attended Payne Elementary, Brown Jr. High, and Cardoza High School in the District of Columbia. Jean was baptized and confirmed at St. Cyprian Catholic Church in Washington, DC. In 1946 at a luncheon at his parents’ home she met Garland Hudson. On October 2, 1952, in Baltimore Maryland they were joined in holy matrimony. From this union of 55 years, they adopted their daughter, Brenda, who they affectionate called “Whistle”. Jean worked for the Bureau of Printing and Engraving for several years. She also worked for Macy’s Corporation. She discontinued her career path in 1971 to help her daughter raise her 3 children, while her daughter and her husband worked. Jean loved her family with all her heart. She was an outstanding home maker. She was an excellent cook. Her meals of greens and potato salad will never be forgotten. Jean would do anything within her means to support her family and friendswherever they needed anything . She was a collector of Jazz music, she loved to sing and dance. The team of Jean and Junieat the card table playing Bid whist could not be beaten and whenever and wherever you saw Jean you saw Junie; they were always together. Jean was a faithful member of the CatholicChurch. She attended mass every Sunday. Jean was preceded in death by her Husband Garland Hudson. She is survived by her Daughter Brenda Harvey; Son-in-Law Ronald Harvey, Sr.; Grandchildren Ronald Harvey, Jr., Cameron Harvey, Sr. (Wendy), Tara Patterson (Ronald); Great-Grandchildren Patricia Allen, Christian Harvey, Victoria Patterson ,Ciarra Harvey, Maryssa Harvey, Cameron Harvey,Jr., Brandon Patterson, Skye Harvey, Cailyn Harvey; Great- Great Grandchildren, Chloe Harvey ,Chay Williams, and Nicoli Williams. A Better Place She’s in a better place right now Than she’s ever been before; All pain is gone; she’s now at rest; Nothing troubles her anymore. It’s we who feel the burden of Our sadness and our grief; We have to cry, to mourn our loss, Before we get relief. We know we’ll reconnect with her At the end of each life’s road; We’ll see her cherished face again When we release our earthly load.
