Ms. Flossie I. Simpson

Flossie Isabell Simpson (known by many as Flo) was the daughter of the late Elisha Simpson and Lillie Gertrude Brown. She was born on April 19, 1942 in Bladen County, North Carolina. She fell asleep in death on Monday, August 24, 2026 at 10:45 am. Flossie was always known for being a hard worker and dedicated to whatever task she faced. She made it known, as she loved to say, "I paid the cost to be the boss." During her life on the farm in North Carolina, she made sure the seeds were planted and the land was tended to with care in order to grow the best produce. This passion followed her, even after she settled into her home in Temple Hills, where she created a small garden. While a hair stylist in her home, she made sure you walked out of her shop looking better than when you walked into it. Your clothes may have wound up soaked, but your hair was looking fresh with the latest style. As an administrative assistant with the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, DC, she committed herself to providing the best work, when given an assignment from the attorneys she supported. She received numerous certificates, which afforded her the opportunity to solidify her career with the federal government and eventually retire. This same dedication and hard work, was also evidenced through her devoted life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Flossie dedicated her life to Jehovah at an early age. This continued as she became a pillar within the Kingdom Hall, faithfully attending and participating in meetings. Her knowledge of scriptures was almost unmatched. She also spent countless hours ministering to others in numerous communities, with her field service group. She LOVED the ministry, which showed because she lived her life as a true example of what it meant to follow Jehovah. Family was extremely important to Flossie. It didn't matter if she gave birth to you or simply claimed you as her own. If she loved you, she considered you family. Her late daughter Valerie, was her heart. The two of them where very close and there was nothing that they would not do for one another. But, no matter who you were, she poured out her love ... and A LOT of that was through her delicious food. A small gathering could turn into a full house in no time. Wow ... the impact Flossie made within the lives of her family, friends and Kingdom Hall members will always be remembered. She was one of a kind and will be truly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her! Her memory will live on through the love she shared, the countless lives she touched, the wisdom she imparted and the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Flossie was preceded in death by her daughter, Valerie Dorcel Wright; brothers, Eli Simpson and Elisha Simpson, Jr.; and sisters, Linda Simpson, Serlina Simpson and Annie Jean Simpson Spaulding. She leaves to cherish her most precious memories her brother, James Earl Simpson; granddaughter, Porsche Moses; goddaughter, Sharon Coffey; and many loving family members and devoted friends. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Flossie's life. A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 1:30 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Flossie will later be laid to rest at Carver's Creek Methodist Church Cemetery in Council, North Carolina, a place that held special meaning in her heart. Although she will be deeply missed, Flossie's warmth, kindness, and beautiful spirit will live on through the memories and lives of those she touched. May we honor her by remembering the love she shared and the lasting impression she left on all who knew her.
