Anderson Benjamin Hite

Anderson Benjamin Hite (also lovingly known as Ben, Andy and Shine) was the son of the late Willie and Dora Hite. He was born on December 16, 1944 in McKenny, Virginia. He was called home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2023 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. Ben received his high school diploma in 1963 in Virginia. He loved cars and had a passion for working on them. So, in 1965, he received his mechanic certificate from the Southside Vocational Trade School in Virginia. Upon receiving the certificate, he was inspired to seek new opportunities. Without hesitation, he left McKenny and moved to Washington, DC. While in this new city he had numerous jobs, but established his career as an auto-mechanic with DC Police Department, with whom he retired. Ben's passion as an auto-mechanic led him to become certified to work on Chrysler, Ford and General Motors products. He even received a Performance Award for offering 30 years of specialized experience. This passion also led him to become the go-to person for family and friends if ever there was ANYTHING wrong with their vehicles. There wasn't much he couldn't fix and as a result, h gained numerous clients from referrals. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever asked and did it with a smile. Ben was much than an auto-mechanic. He was a loving husband and father. While in Washington, DC, he met the late Ann M. Hite, whom he married on August 8, 1970, at Allen Chapel A.M.E Church, where they became members. From this union, their only child, LaToya Hite, was born whom they raised in New Carrolton, Maryland. Family was very important to him, and he took pride in being a wonderful provider. Also, his physical and loving presence gave him the quality time he loved with his family. Although Ben didn't belong to any official social clubs, he was definitely a social butterfly. He loved to connect with family and friends. He enjoyed great conversations, regardless of the subject matter. He had a heart for other, which is a reflection of Jesus, whom he accepted in his life. He would often visit or just call to check on people, especially if he hadn't heard from them in a while. That was his spirit, and this type of genuine love, care, and concern for others will be GREATLY missed. Ben leaves to cherish his most precious memories, his only child, LaToya Hite, Esq.; sister Rosa Yates of McKenny, Virginia; two brothers, John Hite and Davide Hite of McKenny, Virginia; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Ann M. Hite, sister Mattie Mallory and Brother Walter Hite.
