Mrs. Ingrid Mykoo Houwen
April 12, 1941 - January 16, 2022
Ingrid Mykoo Houwen, affectionately known as Houwen, was born on April 12, 1941, to Joseph Mykoo and Amelia Mykoo in Suriname, South America. She was raised in Trinidad & Tobago and later relocated to New York City. While receiving her education in the city, she met Morel Lee Houwen. They were joined in holy matrimony on May 23, 1965, and out of their union came their daughter, Morella. In 1965, the couple moved to Washington D.C. to start a new life together. She started her career as a Medical Technologist working at Soldiers Home, DC General Hospital, the Bureau of Labs, and Hadley Memorial Hospital. Ingrid retired with the DC Government in 1987 and Hadley Memorial Hospital in 2011. Ingrid loved to stay busy with different activities like crocheting and gardening. She also loved watching Steve Harvey on Family Feud regularly. She enjoyed making eggrolls and her specialty dish, chicken and rice, a recipe she kept close to her heart. Ingrid was also a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Ingrid is survived by her daughter Morella, her granddaughter Chelsey, and her great-grandson Wyatt. She also leaves to cherish her memory her three godsons Lil Mike, Marcus, and Anthony, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Ingrid was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
